Heavenly Mortals

As the sky changes in colour
and the sun falls behind a silky veil,
golden rays break through
the parting marbled clouds,
like spotlights onto a stage,
enticing and exposing the listless sea below.

The light still constantly changes,
as a crowd gathers to wait by the water's edge,
filled with excitement and expectancy
in the dusky stillness.

Then, rapid flashes of brilliance
push back, even further, the parted clouds,
soon followed by the sound of a sustained drone
and the beating of wings,
as the wind begins to ruffle the lifeless sea.

Now, slowly descending
on dazzling rays of light,
the time has come
for the return of
the heavenly mortals.

Words and music by Kevan Koya, September 2006

My fictional idea and interpretation of heavenly mortals are human beings who also possess the limitless powers of an angel.

Being able to move freely between heaven and earth very much like ambassadors for their god, solving problems on earth and putting wrong to right, influencing ideas and the subconciousness of people by bringing a positive force to those they come into contact with and then reporting back to their god what they see and do.

Their only gateway between these two worlds is when the sun begins to set and crepuscular rays and shafts of light hit the earths surface. Only when this happens are they able to descend or transcend between the two worlds within these shafts of light.

Heavenly Mortals

You don't want much, you always give more
You don't like cruelty, and to hell with war
You believe in peace, and you march for love
You look to the sun, and to your god above
Now we stand amazed, as you ascend the burning sky
You know we love you, and we know you'll really try

We believe in you, heavenly mortals
We can touch you now, so heavenly mortal
Tell me is your god a god of love?
Tell me is there heaven up above?

You fill our lives, with only good things
Your voices carry, on ancient winds
Your world is vast, there's no boundaries
You cast your shadows, over land and seas
On dazzling rays, you come pushing through the clouds
You know we love you, so please take away our doubt

We believe in you, heavenly mortals
We can touch you now, so heavenly mortal
Tell me is there something we can do?
Tell me is there more for me and you?
We believe in you, heavenly mortals
We can touch you now, so heavenly mortal
Tell me is your god a god of love?
Tell me is there heaven up above?

Everytime we close our eyes
We move a little closer
To those things we try to find and believe
Save me..........

We believe in you, heavenly mortals
We can touch you now, so heavenly mortal
Do you have a secret we can share?
Do you have a plan or don't you care?
We can touch you now, so heavenly mortals
We believe in you, so heavenly mortal
Tell me is your god a god of love?
Tell me is there heaven up above?
Heavenly mortals, heavenly mortals
Heavenly mortals, heavenly mortals.

This album 'Heavenly Mortals' is probably the most commercially ground breaking album that I have written, being divided into two albums.

The first album has a very uplifting feel in its lyrical content and melody, focussing on the very positive things in life.

Two songs from this album, 'Space Girl' and 'Burning Shore', will be released on my website.
